The main conference program of this year’s EASTLOG Congress focused on improving efficiency within the supply chain. The afternoon block in particular was devoted to FMCG. Overall, the EASTLOG main conference program featured 11 segments. Once again the Logistics Managers Club work group, composed of six major logistics professionals (Miroslava Jechoux of ND Logistics CZ, Radka Procházková from Dr. Oetker, Peter Foltinský from Nordisk Transport Rail, Ferdinand Hlobil of Cushman & Wakefield, Martin Štrupl from Hamé and Petr Václavek, logistics consultant) assumed the role of professional sponsor of the event.

Tomáš Sedláček, Head Economic Strategist at ČSOB, kicked off the jam-packed program with his introductory discussion on the present economic climate in Central Europe. Numerous logistics-related topics followed including financial efficiency and the significance of working with supplies and supply-chain planning by Petr Knap, Partner with Ernst & Young. Among the speakers of the afternoon were Ralf Meistes, Director of the DIY-Logistics Division of Dachser (on supply chains in the hobby market segment) and Nicholas Wyss, Global Head of IV Retail & Fashion and Senior Vice President of Panalpina Management (on current global supply-chain trends).
There was also no shortage of case studies – this year on the shipment planning project at Plzeňský Prazdroj and the investment into an automated packaging and labeling line at Hamé. The grand finale of the conference program featured a panel discussion on the subject of the changes taking place in retail supply chains, the goal of which was to forecast the future requirements of retail chains and their suppliers. The discussions included none other than Pieter C. W. Vos, Project Manager, Tesco Stores, Tomáš Moravec, Logistic Manager, MAKRO Cash & Carry ČR, Werner Eberhart, Logistics Director, Globus ČR and Jan Hyťha, Executive Manager, Nagel Česko, who led a heated debate among a highly enthusiastic audience.

A total of 15 speakers addressed over 300 logistics professionals, imparting a wealth of information and lots of inspiration for improving supply-chain improving efficiency.
