GS1 organization’s foundation was based on the decision to merge the EAN International and the American partner UCC in 2005. GS1, as a global company, benefits from more than 30 years experience from both companies. It is a neutral organization dedicated to the design and implementation of global standards and solutions to improve the efficiency and visibility in supply chains across various sectors.
GS1 Czech Republic is a non-profit association of legal entities. The main object of its activities is the coordination, methodology and consultancy supporting the GS1 System in the territory of Czech Republic. This activity is performed on the base of the license granted by the GS1 Global Office.
GS1 System is a fully integrated set of following key standards.
GS1 - BarCodes: Present a very effective method of the Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC). The GS1 Identification Keys are independent of any existing systems of classification and allow a unique identification of products, services, assets and logistic units, as well as physical locations and trading partners. They are fit for both global and local applications and allow easy access to the master data information.
GS1 - eCom: Provides a uniform platform for the Electronic Data Interchange between independent trading partners. GS1 - eCom includes two standards EANCOM and XML, both enabling a quick, exact and efficient data communication through the whole supply chain.
GS1 - GDSN (Global Data Synchronization Network): Offers the solution for automated standards based on global environment, that provides secure and continuous data synchronisation, allowing all partners to have consistent and accurate item data in their systems at the same time.
GS1 - RFID-EPC: Offers a technology that combines radio frequency identification, existing communications network infrastructure and the Electronic Product Code to enable immediate and automatic identification and tracking of an item through the whole supply chain.
