PROGRAM OF LOGISTICS HR FORUM
After a second successful year, the Logistics HR Forum, which took place on April 9, 2008, has become a fixture of the EASTLOG Congress. The need for a meeting place where HR professionals can discuss current labor market issues and trends was an underlying theme in all three of the HR Forum program segments.
The discussion forum for HR/line managers and personnel workers was attended by 42 representatives of logistics companies and personnel agencies. The opinion that HR should play a more integral role in the business strategy of companies looking to establish a competitive advantage in their efforts to attract qualified workers was unanimous. The two-hour segment featured presentations by Yvona Charouzdová on developing the talents of key employees and stabilizing the corporate work force, and Jarmila Valešková on the psycho-diagnostic methods used to hold on to good employees. Representatives of HR logistic support also led a panel discussion on the specific issues facing HR in logistics.
The goal of section two of the HR Forum was to present a topical program of discussions for young talent in the logistics sector.
A total of 260 students focusing on transport and logistics from all over the country attended the morning Seminar for High School Students and the afternoon Seminar for Vocational School and College/University Students. Both hour-long blocks were designed to give advice to final-year students and graduates looking for employment in logistics companies on preparing for a career in logistics and gaining the practical experience necessary to stay ahead of other job applicants. All the logistics professionals present agreed on the need for logistics graduates to prepare for their careers well in advance by taking part-time internships at logistics companies.
Part three of the forum featured the Job Fair, which provided students and school representatives with the opportunity to forge new contacts with exhibiting companies. The Job Fair hosted 22 leading companies in the logistics sector including DHL, Kühne + Nagel, Geis and more. (CLICK HERE for a complete list of companies participating on the Job Fair).
The professional overseer of this year’s event was HR logistic support, also a partner of the HR Logistics Forum program block along with GEFCO.
