LOGISTICS CENTER EXCURSIONS
As in years past, the EASTLOG 2008 program of events offered conference delegates and congress partners the option to go on one of three excursions to major logistics centers in the CR. A total of 118 participants visited 5 logistics operations. Excursion one included the European Distribution Centers of FIEGE for Bridgestone and SCHENKER for HAPPICH. The long trip to Bor u Tachova offered visitors a peek into the biggest warehouse operated by only one tenant (Bridgestone) and with a detailed presentation by CCS Department Manager, Schenker Martin Machač on the methods used to process sensitive goods for the automotive during warehousing. Excursion two featured a tour of the Philip Morris ČR product warehouse in Kutná Hora and the AHOLD Czech Republic central distribution center in Klecany. Visitors were shown through the warehouse in Kutná Hora by Purchaser Pavel Novák and introduced to the warehouse’s new BT ČR radio shuttle technology for high forklifts which was presented by Aleš Hušek. The third excursion included a visit to the European distribution center Office Depot in Hostivice where visitors were divided into three groups and introduced by team leader Petr Duchek, Milan Lamoš and Miloslav Weiss to the facility’s day to day operations.
Visitors to each logistics center enjoyed refreshments and translators were present to accommodate foreign participants.
Logistics center excursions have become an integral part of the EASTLOG congress. Next year’s event promises another fascinating trips!
